As Bob Barker would say...

Help us control the pet population. Spring is here and so are the many unwanted cats and kittens. The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is once again offering a special low cost spay/neuter program just for Moraine residence.

Vouchers will go on sale in Monday, March 22 through Monday, April 5 at the Payne Recreation Center surgery date will be Friday, April 30. The vouchers will sale for $35 female and $10 for male. If you make under $20,000 per year, we can take $5 off the prices ($30 female and $5 male).

Last year we fixed nearly 60 cats from our community! Let’s beat last year’s numbers and prevent more unwanted cats and kittens from being born. If we spay and neuter 60 cats that would prevent close to seven thousand cats from being introduced in our community in the next 3 years! Our goal is to make it possible for everyone to spay/neuter cats they have, and even cats that are just feeding. If you have any questions, you can contact Mackenzie Phillips at 262-5926.

Report on GM site expected

City SealCity government expects to soon have a document that leaders hope will serve as a guide to redeveloping the former General Motors Corp. assembly plant off Ohio 741.

Moraine City Manager Dave Hicks hopes to have a final report from Angelou Economics, of Austin, Texas, Monday, Jan. 25.

“This is just one more tool we have in our tool box to improve economic conditions here,” Hicks said this afternoon.

The city hired Angelou last year for guidance on how to bring new business to the plant’s approximately four million square feet of industrial space.

“It talks in general about the kind of industries we should go after: Aerospace, for example,” Hicks said.

Two possible developers already have expressed interest in the site.
