Full-Time Dispatcher - Feb 19 - Mar 3 only

A Dispatcher provides essential and critical support functions within the Moraine Police Division.

Full Benefits package which includes: paid insurance for medical, prescription, dental, vision and life; paid vacations, holidays and sick leave; paid college tuition and uniforms. Entry-level pay is $21.64/hour and work a 40 hour work week. There will be a twelve-month probationary period.

Applications must be filled out online and include copies of: diploma or GED; driver’s license; the names, addresses and phone numbers of 3 personal references and any appropriate certifications including OPATA. Applications will be accepted February 19 – March 3, 2017.

Once you have completed the online City application, go to www.nationaltestingnetwork.com, select “Find Jobs” tab, then “Emergency Communications”, then select the City of Moraine’s posting. The fee for the exam is $41.00 and paid on the National Testing Network, Inc. website. Be sure to complete the Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ) on the NTN website. Incomplete PHQs will not be considered.

The National Testing Network will conduct the competitive, written examination on behalf of the Merit System Commission on March 8, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. The exam will be given at the Miami Valley Fire Alliance located at the Sinclair Community College, Building 20. Doors for the exam will lock at 9:00 am and no one will be allowed into the examination after that time. A valid driver's license will be required to enter the exam. Special accommodations must be requested at the time of application.

If an applicant has taken the exam within the past six (6) months, you may transfer your scores. However, if an applicant wishes to transfer a previous test score and meets all requirements, they must complete a City application and the NTN PHQ in order to be considered for this position.

Upon completion of the entry level exam, all scores will be forwarded to the Moraine Merit System Commission who will certify the testing process. Candidates who attain a passing score of 70 percent (Note: The combined score as listed on the NTN results) on the exam will be placed on the Commission’s eligibility list. The City of Moraine will contact each candidate following the exam with their overall score and ranking. National Testing Network is a service provided to conduct entry level testing in a standardized, professional environment. National Testing Network does not replace the City of Moraine and the Merit System Commission responsibility and decision making in the testing process.

Applicants considered for further processing will undergo interviews, criminal background and reference checks, medical exam, drug screen, psychological test, and polygraph exam.

Police Sergeant Promotion - internal only (until March 2, 2017)

All applicants must fill out a Promotional Application for consideration to be promoted to Police Sergeant. An exam will be conducted on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at the City Building

Qualifications:

  • Three years as a Moraine Police Officer
  • Considerable knowledge of the City’s policies, practices, General Orders and geography.

Score Calculation:

  • A score of 70 percent or higher is needed to pass the written exam
  • There will be a two (2) hour time limit to complete the exam
  • Protest period following the written exams expires March 9, 2017
  • Protests on questions must be submitted to the Clerk of Council by 4:30 p.m. March 9, 2017, on the form provided by the Merit System Commission (Protest Form)
  • The Merit System Commission will meet to determine the outcome of the protested questions (Rule 10, Section 8)
  • Ties will be broken by seniority points and if needed, date and time of application

Study Guides:
The examination will consist of 100 multiple choice and true or false question and be taken from the following study material: Personnel Manual, Codified Ordinances, Union Contract, Police General Orders, Ohio Revised Code (ORC) and the current Patrol Officer Union Contract.

Seniority points will only be awarded to candidates who achieve a minimum passing score on the examination without considering seniority points (Rule 16, Section 2)

The Sergeant promotional exam is a three part process consisting of a written exam, Assessment Center and interview with the Chief. After the written exam scores have been calculated, certified and released, all candidates who have a passing score will move to the Assessment Center phase of the process scheduled for March 18, 2017. Additionally, candidates who have successfully completed the first two phases will be interviewed by the Chief of Police at a date to be determined.

 

Full-Time Mechanic - Feb 5 - 22 only

Applicants must be a high school graduate (or GED), demonstrate good character and health, be at least 18 years of age and be physically capable of performing all essential functions of the position. Background checks will include character, mental/physical health, psychological testing and polygraph.

During the probationary period of one year, the salary is $39,700. The contract begins at $18.72/hourly with annual step increases in accordance with the Union Contract. Benefits include: paid vacation, holiday, sick and injury leaves; comprehensive healthcare insurance plan; and life insurance.

Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years experience.
  • Must have knowledge of Automotive Gas Engine, Diesel Engine and Hydraulics.
  • Selected applicant must obtain a Class B CDL within one-year of hire date.
  • Current ASE in Brakes, Steering & Suspension and Air Conditioning are preferred. Selected applicant must obtain ASE is Brakes, Steering and Suspension and Air Conditioning within one year of hire. The City will provide study material only. The candidate is responsible for all exam fees.

The written examination will be held at the City Building (4200 Dryden Road) on Saturday, February 25, 2017. After an application is received, the applicant will receive an email with the time of their exam.

Part-Time & Seasonal Recreation Monitors - until positions are filled

The City of Moraine Parks and Recreation is seeking staff members for its ongoing year around and summer seasonal programs. Qualified candidates must have experience in youth, senior, sports, nutritional, and/or fitness programming. Successful candidates must have exceptional interpersonal/customer service skills, effective verbal/written communication skills, willingness to work nights, evenings, weekends/holidays and the ability to handle stressful situations.

Recreation Monitors work under the general supervision of the Director of Parks and Recreation, Recreation Coordinator, Operations Manager and/or Recreation Supervisor.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with one or more years of recreation experience preferred, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Pre-employment drug screening and background check is required. All candidates must be willing to submit to random drug screenings.
  • First Aid and CPR certifications preferred or must be obtained immediately after hire.

Part-Time Seasonal Laborer - until positions are filled

The City of Moraine Street/Parks Department is now accepting applications for (1) part-time Seasonal Laborer. Applications must be submitted on-line. The chosen applicant will be responsible for weed eating, mowing and light grounds maintenance. The pay for the part-time Seasonal Laborer is $8.35 per hour for a total of 28 hours per week. You must have a valid Ohio driver’s license to apply.

Part-Time Firefighter

Part-time minimum requirements for employment are: Firefighter Level 1B, EMT-B Certification at time of hiring and must be be able to work platoon hours (every third day), 24 hrs per week.
