Streets Division

The Department of Public Service consists of two divisions. These are Streets and Parks. Each division’s main purpose is to maintain the roadways, parks and residential public. Streets and Parks Divisions service and maintain all City properties and roadways.

The Street Division is responsible for maintaining 35.5 roadway miles including residential areas in Moraine. The City and its residents are provided with a variety of public services including sign maintenance, sidewalk and curb maintenance and replacement, snow and ice removal, tree trimming and removal, street sweeping, drywell maintenance, road painting, installation of Christmas banners and decorations, blacktopping, mowing, and the planting of flowers on all city facilities and traffic islands on Dryden Road.

The City of Moraine Street Division offers and provides the residents of Moraine with a variety of special programs which are stated below with a brief description of each.

This program is offered to the Moraine residents for a total of five weeks during the fall season. Collection begins the first week of November and continues through the first week of December. Loose items must be properly contained so that they can be easily handled.

Waste Management is now trying to pickup as many items as possible during the regular trash pickup on Thursday. They do however, ask that you call and talk to them before putting the large items out for pickup.

Two important things to remember: First, if you have large items to be picked up, you must call Waste Management at (800) 343-6047 to schedule the pickup with them. Secondly, all refuse must be properly contained so that the work crew can easily handle the pickup.

Items containing refrigerants can be handled by Waste Management for an additional charge to the customer.

    Residential Curbside Recycling

The City of Moraine provides a FREE curbside recycling program for the residents of Moraine. Currently, Waste Management provides the program as per the contract. An orange container (recycle bin) will be delivered to each resident for the containment of the following recyclable materials:

    • NEWSPAPER - No glossy paper, phone books or magazines. Please place newspaper ONLY in a brown paper bag and place on top of the recycling container.

    • GLASS CONTAINERS - Any color, rinsed out. PLEASE REMOVE AND DISPOSE OF LIDS AND CAPS.

    • METAL CANS- Aluminum and metal beverage containers, tin and steel food cans. PLEASE RINSE AND REMOVE ALL LABELS.

    • PLASTIC CONTAINERS - Milk jugs, detergent containers and two-liter beverage containers. No motor oil or antifreeze jugs. PLEASE REMOVE AND DISPOSE OF LIDS.

    • POLYSTYRENE - "Styrofoam" egg cartons, cups and plates. No food particles, please.

There is no charge for the above services. We only require that you place the orange container and your regular trash at the CURB or STREET EDGE by 6:00 A.M. on Thursdays so you will not be missed. Please separate the recyclable container from your regular trash by three feet. A separate vehicle will pick up these items.

If you have any questions or need assistance in this program please contact Waste Management at (800) 343-6047.
